The Department of Music Vocal, Rajiv Gandhi Government Degree College Chaura Maidan Shimla- 04 established in 1984 with aims to train the students in the fundamentals of Music Vocal and preserve Indian Classical Music heritage. Study of the subject opens up multiple opportunities for Music Vocal Graduates. This perhaps is the most popular course in music chosen by students in the stream of music in the college. The department has been providing not only academic guidance to the students but also making them capable to performance in many competition. The department annually holds workshops, quiz competitions, activities under HPU youth Festival, SCA Oath ceremony, Prize Distribution Function and Swaranjali –Ek Prayas and many more. It has vibrant Music subject society, membership to which is compulsory for all the students.
