B.Sc. 1^st Year

DSC-I (Mechanics)

·       The study of mechanics allows students to analyse many familiar phenomenons around us like mechanics of Planets, stars and galaxies.

·       The laws of motion help students to understand the motion of macroscopic objects around us.

·       Students will be able to solve mechanical problems analytically.

DSC-II (Electricity, Magnetism & EMT)

·       Students will apply knowledge of electricity and magnetism to solve the problems in electromagnetism withmathematical methods.

·       Account for the importance of electricity and magnetism in society, especially with regard to technological applications.

B.Sc. 2^nd Year

DSC-III (Statistical and Thermal Physics)

·       This course will provide the basic knowledge of thermodynamics, and different types of statistics to the students. The students use this knowledgeto explore various applications related to topics in material science and thephysics of condensed matter.

·       Students will able to use the statistical physics methods, such as Boltzmann distribution, Gibbs distribution, Fermi-Dirac and Bose-Einstein distributions to solve problems of systems contains very large number of particles.

·       Students will able to make connections between applications of general statistical theory in various branches of physics.

DSC-IV(Waves and Optics)

·       The students will understand various phenomenons like interference, diffraction, scatterings and cause or origin of them. The students will get the
knowledge of various optical devices like telescopes, polarizer, interferometer etc.

·       Students will be able to understand the role of the wave equation and appreciate the universal nature of wave motion in a range of physical systems.

SEC-I (Computational Physics)

·       Learn the basic programming concept.

·       Improve the logical as well as Computational ability.

·       Applicability of computer resources in physics.

SEC-II (Electrical Circuits and Network Skills)

·       This course enables students to design and troubleshoot the electric circuits, networks and appliances through hands-on mode.

SEC-I(b) Physics Workshop skills

·       To enable the students to get familiar with various mechanical and electrical tools and their applications through hands-on mode.

B.Sc. 3^rd Year

DSE-I (Solid State Physics and Electronics)

·       Students would be able to understand various types of crystal structures and symmetries and understand the relationship between the real and reciprocal space and learn the Bragg’s X-ray diffraction in crystals. Would also learn about phonons and lattice.

·       The course Provides practical knowledge of various physical phenomena such as: magnetism, dielectrics, ferroelectrics and semiconductors. Students would gain a hands-on learning experience by performing experiments on these properties of materials.

·       Students gain knowledge about semiconductors and many electronic components like diode, transistors BJT and FET etc.

·        

DSE-II (Quantum Mechanics)

·       Students will be able to describe the behaviour of matter and energy at atomic and subatomic level. The course plays a fundamental role in explaining how things happen beyond our normal observations.

·       Students get the knowledge of Schrodinger equations, particle in potential barriers, quantum theory of H like atoms, atoms/molecules in electric and magnetic fields.

·       Various practical problems solving methods related to Quantum Mechanics by using computers would be learned by students.

DSE-I(b) Elements of Modern Physics

·       Students will understand fundamental of quantum mechanics and apply to one dimensional motion of elementary particles.

DSE-II(b) Nuclear and Particle Physics

·       This course intends to explore the interior of Nucleus ad interaction between nucleons. Students will get theoretical knowledge of energy production by nuclear fission and nuclear fusion by studying this course.

·       Student learnt how high energy particles can be obtained by using accelerators.

·       Students will gain knowledge of the fundamental or elementary particles and its classifications.

SEC-III (Radiation Safety)

·       In this course, students will learn safety measures that are to be adopted from the dangerous effects of radiations.

SEC-IV (Renewable Energy and Energy Harvesting)

·       In this course students will explore society’s present needs and future energy demands, examine conventional energy sources and system.
